Geotechnical Boring Monitoring

Geotechnical borings were required to assess soil conditions for potential future track improvements along a portion of the Los Angeles-San Diego (LOSSAN) railroad corridor which serves Amtrak, Metrolink, and Coaster passenger trains, as well as freight trains. The bore locations were located within sensitve habitat areas containing protected bird species and monitoring was required in order to avoid impacts during the critical nesting season. Wieland Acoustics provided real-time noise monitoring and reported results to the on-site biologist and engineer. In order to minimize disruption to rail operations, all work was conducted during scheduled weekend track closures.
