SC-04 South Connectors I and II Pipeline, San Juan Capistrano, CA

  • Client: Chambers Group, Irvine, CA
  • Project Owner/Operator: Capistrano Valley Water District (CVWD)

The SC-04 South Connectors I and II Pipeline project consisted of approximately 27,000 linear feet of pipe, two pressure regulating stations, two jack and bore operations, and modifications to an existing system flow control facility. The new pipeline extends from the existing flow control facility at the intersection of Antonio Parkway and Ortega Highway to the location of the future SC-04 terminal reservoir.

Wieland Acoustics provided periodic noise monitoring over the course of approximately nine months. The monitoring was required to protect California Gnatcatcher nesting grounds from adverse impacts (the California Gnatcatcher is a bird species that is listed as Threatened by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service). Wieland Acoustics coordinated closely with the project biologist and noise monitoring reports were prepared and submitted after each series of measurements was complete.
